Inspired

Inspiring, in my opinion, is a very powerful word. It might be so powerful because we have so little power over what is inspiring, but what inspires us has so much power over our lives, essentially over everything that becomes of us.

As you can probably tell, I like the idea of inspiring people. Impacting people in a positive way--even if it's just the little things that I do--is what I want my life to become. But on my journey I have been inspired.

The Heartland Borderwalk for MS has enhanced my vision of great people trying to accomplish great things. Watching people devote a weekend to finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, a debilitating disease effecting the nervous system. Seeing people endure the extremities of the sun in June, while they still have miles to walk to get to their destination. But they keep coming. Year after year. These people inspire me.

They inspire me to endure the journey with them. To walk miles in a weekend. To let the sun beat down on me in the mid-day. They inspire me to walk thirty five miles in two days, to find a cure. To step into the Heart of Hope. They inspire me to take a step for a cure.

As you can see, from this video, my family is very active with the Heartland Borderwalk. My aunt Ellen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1992, and my family has found inspiration in her to find a cure for MS. We do so by participating in, or volunteering for the Heartland Borderwalk.

This year I will walk for the second time in the Heartland Borderwalk. First I had my aunt Ellen as inspiration but now she is not alone, the Heartland Borderwalk has become a community to inspire, to change lives, a community to better lives for people living with MS.

If you would like to help me reach my goal of $500 to walk in the Heartland Borderwalk for MS please click here. Thank you so much, it is greatly appreciated!

QUESTIONS:

What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).

What is the Heartland Borderwalk?
It is a purely volunteer based organization that devotes time to bettering the lives of people living with MS, and to make finding a cure for MS a reality. To answer your question further in depth click here.

Can I participate in the Heartland Borderwalk?
Sure! Raising $500 is the main goal to participate in the walk. If you want to join a team you can! Teams can also share money if needed. More information on the walk is here.

If I'm not able to walk can I still be involved?
Definitely! Volunteers are always needed! And we seriously love and appreciate the work they give. Nothing fills your heart with more relief than coming up on a rest stop and hearing their encouragement. To get more information click here.

Anything else?
If you can't walk then donate! (I'd very much appreciate a donation, to help me get to the goal of $500.) Donations can be made in more than just money. Donate your time, effort, support. Spread the word. If you know someone that might be interested in the Heartland Borderwalk tell them!

This sounds great, but where's it located?
It is great, and the location is great too! The walk will be held in Olathe, Kansas. There are plenty of trails there to walk on, so walking is safe.
